During the cold war Americans were afraid of an atom-bomb attack by the Russians. The American government spent a lot of money teaching people to 'duck and cover'. The Civil Defence made comics, movies and thought children at schools all over the nation to be prepared for when the bombs came by taking shelter. The comic went through six printings during the 50's and early 60's.
