In 1979 Purnell published a single tie-in volume to the TV show Worzel Gummidge. Though not officially called an annual, it used the standard format for UK annuals, released in hardback with a mixture of stories and features. World Distributors subsequently won the Worzel Gummidge license and went on to produce several official annuals.
