This series was first meant to be a four part story, but the artist Burne Hogarthe died of a heart attack at 84 years old just after the first issue was completed. Publisher Dark Horse published the first issue and added the story script and a few panels that Hogarthe had already made for the three issues that would never be made to give the reader some insight as to where the story would end.
